What is NMAT Exam?
NMAT is a national level entrance exam which grants admission to colleges such as NMIMS Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. You can take your exam at most up to 3 times i.e. one attempt and 2 retakes. However NMIMS Mumbai has recently started to accept only the score of your first attempt.
NMAT 2024 Exam Notification and Overview

The NMAT 2024 exam, scheduled for January, will include an additional slot for students. The registration for the exam closed in January, and the exam will be conducted during that month.

The NMAT exam will continue to be computer adaptive, as it was in previous years. This means that the difficulty level of each subsequent question will depend on the candidate’s performance on the previous questions.

The NMAT 2023 exam, conducted from October to December as done every year, is expected to take place at more than 66 test centers across 55 cities in India, along with 4 international centers. Students are allowed up to 3 attempts, with a 15-day gap required between each attempt. Additionally, students have the facility to reschedule the date and time of their exam within the 88-day test window according to their convenience.

NMAT 2024 Eligibility

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) has outlined the eligibility criteria for the NMAT 2024 exam as follows:

  • Academic Qualifications: Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute, with at least 50 percent marks. Final-year students pursuing their Bachelor’s degree can also take the NMAT exam, provided they complete their graduation by the time of admission. Provisional admission will be granted to those who pass their Bachelor’s degree with 50% and qualify via the NMAT exam.
  • Age Limit: There are no age restrictions for appearing in the NMAT exam.
  • Work Experience: While work experience is not required to take the NMAT, candidates with two or more years of work experience may receive preference during the admissions process.

NMAT 2024 Application Fee

The NMAT notification provides detailed information about the registration fees. After registering and paying the registration fee, students can schedule their exam. Additionally, they can reschedule the exam by paying a rescheduling fee.

For NMAT 2023, the application fee (for additional slots) was structured as follows:

  • Registration Fee: 3000/-
  • Rescheduling Fee: 1200/-
  • Additional Slot Fee: 400/- per report

NMAT Exam Cutoffs

For the NMAT 2024 exam, cutoffs vary significantly across different institutions. NMIMS Mumbai, which typically has one of the highest cutoffs, generally requires a score around 235 or higher. Other NMIMS campuses, such as Bangalore and Hyderabad, usually have cutoffs around 220, while NMIMS Indore and Navi Mumbai range between 180 and 200. Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, expects candidates to score around 200+ as well​Other institutions like VIT Vellore and SRM University Chennai are expected to have cutoffs around 250, while colleges like Woxsen Business School and ITM Business School have cutoffs ranging from 150 to 200. Alliance University and Amity University have cutoffs around 100 and 200, respectively​
Each college may have varying percentile requirements, with top colleges requiring scores above the 90th percentile. Additionally, most colleges include further rounds like Group Discussions, Personal Interviews, and Written Ability Tests post the cutoff clearance
